Camping in Arizona

While we were vacationing in Phoenix last week, we went camping at Sharp Creek Campground in the Tonto National Forest.  It's about a 1-1/2 hour drive east of Phoenix, near the town of Payson.  It's up in the mountains, with tons of huge pine trees, and it's about 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix!

Beautiful view from the Mogollan Rim on the Rim Lakes Vista trail - about 10 miles east of our campground.

I got to meet Kathryn Stockett!!!

This is a little photo album I made with the photos I took Thursday night at a book signing with Kathryn Stockett.  It was so awesome to meet her in person!  She spoke for about half an hour, then did a Q&A session, and then the book signing.
I love, love, love her incredible book "The Help" and it's now up high on my list of all-time favorites.  I read the majority of this 500+ page book in one sitting.....reading it overnight on a red-eye, coming home from Hawaii.  I just couldn't put it down.  Thanks for passing it on to me, Jere!!

Flowers.....finally!

The sun is shining this morning and I'm lovin the daffodils, finally in bloom. They're such pretty, happy little flowers and so nice to see in the yard after all *snow* and gloom of the last month!!

Tony's Soccer Game.....GOAL!

Tony had a soccer game last Thursday at Mount Fort Jr High. He played really well and his team won! Final score, 4 to 1.
It was a lot of fun watching them.

Dishes from the D.I.

For our Easter table, I picked up these peachy plates and a few other decor items. After running them through the dishwasher, they look just like new. What a find....they were the exact color I was looking for!

This candle is a perfect match for the centerpiece I'm creating. A tad shorter than I wanted, but for $.50, I'm not complaining.
I remembered that I still had these old peach napkin rings stored away in a closet. I bought them ages ago at the old (now defunct) Mervyn's store at the Layton Hills Mall. (a few of them have never been used!)
Here's the original price tag - regular price was $1.00, but of course I got them on clearance for a whopping $.48!  How I love a bargain.

Still Some Snow

There's still a small amount of snow in the backyard, but soon it will be nothing but a distant memory.
Within a few weeks, the grass will turn green and leaves will sprout on all the trees, the sun will be shining and birds will be singing!!!

Down with the Brown

Time to move the winter decor downstairs into storage and bring in some lighter colors for spring. So bye-bye pretty pine cone candles, until next winter. Colleen gave me these for Christmas a few years ago.

Love them!!

Love these gorgeous colors!

It feels good just having a few flowers around the house.

In desperation, I've resorted to using fake!

Spring has Sprung!

It's officially here!!!

Doin' the D.I.

Today I paid a visit to the local DI store. It's similar to the Goodwill, and is a treasure trove of junk/goodies. You never know what you might find there!

Came across this little gem and seriously considered purchasing, but couldn't quite figure out what I'd do with it. The print immediately caught my eye because it was a favorite of mine in the 60's, for heaven's sake!! I used to have a dress with this exact color and pattern when I was in high school!  This darling little case sports a bamboo handle and hot pink interior. So darn cute!!! (For the $2, I may just have to go back and get it, and fix it up for Hailey to keep her treasures in.)

Couldn't pass up these awesome, acrylic Margarita glasses for al fresco dining. I'm thinking they'll be perfect for summer cocktails.
(A girl can't be too careful out on the patio!)

Among the eclectic array of items....
A collection of Elvis hits (the complete collection, no less) right beside a porcelain plate of the Presidents. Oh, my.

A new 'do

At my recent cut and color, I went shorter and darker.  So a few inches got lopped off, and gone are the gold highlights.
This is the before shot.

Right before the cutting began

Voila!  What is it about a haircut that makes you feel like you've lost 10 pounds? Too bad it doesn't!  You just feel lighter walking out of the salon.  Sure wish I could round brush my hair like this every morning!!

Lo and behold!

Hubby and I went on a wine run yesterday to replenish our stock.  While browsing the aisles, we picked up these purdy bottles.

And then, what to my wondering eyes should appear.....

Almond champagne from Wilson Creek Winery! In UTAH!!!
Well that's a first. I should've taken a pic of the "One Time Only" sign!  Too funny.

What a difference a day makes

Today the sun is shinging and the snow is melting! Yay!!
We can see across the valley once again!
                                         We have blue skies today!
We can see some grass for the 1st time in months!
It may be smashed and brown, but it is showing *signs of life*!
