Beetles and Monkeys and Frogs, Oh my!

Blanket making day ~ As a service project, Brian, Chantell, Tony, Zack and Hailey made blankets to send to babies who live on an Indian reservation in Arizona. And as a result, they get free tickets to Disneyland! They'll be heading down in April.

Lots of fleece - beetles, monkeys and frogs

Chantell, tying fringe - they made 3 blankets each

It's snowing. Again.

Biggie flakes of snow are coming down this morning. Ugh! Not a pretty sight ~ it's grey & gloomy & yukky. I may just have to stoke up the fireplace and whip up a hot batch of chocolate chip cookies to warm up. Bella is trying to warm up too, snuggling up against the heater vent -- even with her warm coat on!

Drink Wine Day

Drink Wine Day   Well, today is National Drink Wine Day. Who knew there was a special day designated?? Unfortunately, I gave up the grape for Lent, so no vino for me!!!

February 18, 2010 is "Drink Wine Day"
Pop your cork and enjoy some bubbly, it's Drink Wine Day! The list of benefits for drinking wine is getting longer and longer by the minute. Drinking a glass of wine a day makes your heart healthy, reduces forgetfulness, helps you lose weight, boosts your immunity, and helps prevent bone loss.
Wine has been produced for thousands of years around the world. From classical Greece and Rome to the modern day, it's no wonder why the art of making wine has been perfected over the years. Evidence of the earliest European wine production has been uncovered at archaeological sites in Macedonia, dating back over 6,500 years ago! Traces of crushed grapes dating from the second and first millennium BC has also been found in China.
Did you know that there are over 20 million acres in the world that are dedicated to growing grapes to make wine? To celebrate Drink Wine Day, be sure to check out local wineries, bars, and liquor stores in your area as many host special events for this holiday. Or what better time than tonight to host your very own wine tasting party!
